Abandoned Gas Station Watercolor

This is my neighbor. At one time there were also people and cars around, but those days are long gone, and were before my time.  It’s been vacant for more than the 34 years I’ve been here in Walsenburg, anyhow.  Time has taken its toll on the place, with peeling paint, and a lot of broken glass.  With so many age-related deficiencies, I figured there’s no way that my blotchy watercolor skills could make the project look any worse for the wear than it already is.

I’ve always had an affinity for the architecture of the little building though, and so it was a natural selection when I went out to take pictures to use for a little painting.  I did, however, eliminate some of the plywood covering places where the windows used to be… because I could.
